Canon raises the bar with new ImagePROGRAF Pro and Gp plotter ranges

Canon LFP recently invited us to the official presentation of its latest innovation in the world of printing: the ImagePROGRAF PRO and GP plotter ranges. This launch marks an important milestone in the field of photographic and corporate colour printing, offering cutting-edge solutions tailored to the specific needs of each segment.

The Pro range is designed to meet the demands of the high quality photographic printing market. The GP range, on the other hand, is the ideal choice for projects where accurate corporate colour reproduction and Pantone colour fidelity are essential.

These printers are the result of extensive research and development by Canon, which has incorporated significant improvements in both hardware and ink composition. These innovations give us significant competitive advantages over other models available on the market.

Among the new products, Canon introduces two new series: the Pro 2600, 4600 and 6600, equipped with twelve inks ideal for high-fidelity colour reproduction, for use in the field of professional and museum photography. Also, the GP 2600s, 4600s and 6600s series, with its 7-colour system, is positioned as the perfect solution for signage and photography. which does not require a wide range of colours.

The following are some of the innovative features of these devices:

  • Internal Lighting: A distinctive feature is its internal light that illuminates the print area, making it easy to check the quality and progress of printed jobs.
  • Transparent Ink Caps: The transparent caps together with the LED indicator allow accurate monitoring of the ink cartridge status, complemented by a detailed five-level consumable status display, providing a more accurate estimation of remaining ink.
  • Optimisation of Ink Ejection: This innovation ensures accurate ink placement on the paper, eliminating the risk of double images or misprints.
  • Paper Change Efficiency: A time reduction of up to 40% has been achieved in paper changeover, optimising workflows.
  • Coil Size Indicators: The printers also feature markings that allow quick identification of the size of paper loaded, an enhancement designed to facilitate handling and efficiency.
  • New LUCIDA PRO II Inks: Perhaps the most significant improvement, and one that we at tx-lab are looking forward to experiencing, is the launch of LUCIDA PRO II inks. This new formula, which includes wax, not only improves scratch and water resistance, but also promises unprecedented white and black quality and colour longevity of up to 200 years.

Canon has also taken an important step towards sustainability, significantly reducing the use of expanded polystyrene in its packaging and switching to cardboard, reflecting its commitment to the environment. This effort has been recognised with an EPEAT Gold rating.

At tx-lab, we were already admirers of the technology offered by the previous series of the Pro range. We are convinced that the new improvements, especially in ink design, will put Canon at the forefront of high quality photo printing.
